To lead a fully holistic life-style you should ensure that your routines include regular elements of exercise, meditation and relaxation.  The human body was designed for physical activity and that design has not changed even though society has.  To promote wellness, balance and harmony the muscular and waste removal systems simply HAVE to be exercised, otherwise they just fail and deteriorate and cause ill health.
 
EXERCISE
 
Exercise should exist on 4 levels...
 
- Aerobic (walking, running, swimming, team sports etc)
- Anaerobic (intense repetitive activity with resistance and shorter duration such as weight lifting, interval training, DIY)
- Stretching (warm-up)
- Subtle Body (Yoga, Tai chi, pilates etc)
 
 
MEDITATION
 
Meditation nourishes the human spirit, metabolism and the mind and body.  It can simply be in the form of taking time each day/week to simply focus on your breathing or a cherished object. Meditation takes practise and commitment but will be very rewarding.
 
 
DEEP RELAXATION
 
Most people never really properly relax.  Those things that we find ‘relaxing’, such as drinking/eating with friends, watching TV or reading, don’t actually achieve the levels of deep relaxation that the body requires.  They help you to ‘chill-out’ on a mental level, but do not restore wellness to the entire system.  Most people lack the time or knowledge to devote to proper relaxation techniques .  It is at this level that an Holistic Therapist can help, as long as the other areas are taken care of by yourself.
 
If you do not work on all these areas then physical illness is sure to follow.
